MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Tuesday evening, the Board of Directors met to evaluate Medical Provider annual funding requests. Our communities enjoy better medical care relative to the size of the territory served.
The White Mountain Communities Special Health Care District can fulfill its mission because of dedicated health care and medical first responder professionals. The District continues to backstop these providers against financial shocks from changing regulations and cuts to reimbursements from government and private insurance. In the past, several events nearly disabled Health Care in southern Apache County.
Thanks to our Medical Care Providers the District can reduce the tax rate by 20% for the year beginning July 1, 2026. This reduction will appear on tax bills due on November 1, 2026, as well as bills due on March 1, 2027. The Health Care District has reduced the tax rate in four of the last five years and held it steady in one of those years.
There are many changes forthcoming in health care policies and costs in 2027 and 2028. It is not yet clear but dark clouds are gathering that could substantially reduce provider reimbursements and raise patient costs. There are indications that some availability of services could occur. The five Board Members of the District are committed to balancing the continuation of medical services to our communities while at the same time protecting taxpayers from excessive costs.
District Board meetings are public meetings either in person or by Video Conference participation. Meeting notices are posted in advance on our website which is, whitemountainhealthdistrict.org, or at the US Post Offices in our communities.

Board Chairman
